Thousands of angry BT customers have been struggling with their email accounts because of problems with the broadband provider's server equipment.
A spokesperson for BT admitted that a small number of users had been affected "for a couple of days".
"We have people fixing a problem for a small number of customers who use BT Yahoo. The problem is quite small and is not affecting everyone. Some people's BT Yahoo accounts are working and others are not."
However, messages left by visitors on internet message boards indicate that problems accessing email have been happening since 11 March.
Other customers indicated that they would be taking their broadband custom elsewhere.
"After missing two employment opportunities and no way to talk to a customer service person at Yahoo, I will be closing my accounts," said one BT Yahoo user on the message board at yahoo.com.
BT said that it is not sure when the problem with the company's servers would be resolved and could not confirm how many users were affected.
BT Yahoo was formed in 2003, when the two companies teamed up to offer UK users broadband services.

no connection
I have tried all evening to connect to the internet with BT but keep getting a sign tell ing me they can not connect to server. I was able to connect through Mozilla. So their is no problem with my hub or computer. The problem is with BT

Cannot access my Yahoo email
For sentimental reasons, I have kept my yahoo.co.uk email address since I left the UK in 1996. For the past three days, I can't retrieve email. Server not found! What's going on!?

Appalling Service from BT
No prior notification that anything was changing (e.g the need to register external email addresses). Different messages from different support personnel - one told me that BT no longer supported external email addresses and I would have to use BT Yahoo address instead ( excuse me! I thought I was buying a broadband service, silly me!). Lack of information - 4 days before I could talk to someone who at least knew a little about the issue. After registering my external mail addresses, the problem still existed and my outbound server was changed - this at least meant messages could be sent out but that it took 30 minutes for people to receive them! Now one week later reconfiguring the outbound mail server back to mail.btinternet.com works. BT obviously do not know the meaning of Customer Service!

Failure to access email address for past 2 weeks.
Despite repeated phone calls to BT over the past 10 days and assurances from BT that the problem had been 'escalated' and would be fixed in 24 hours the problem remains. I shifted to BT because I thought their greater expertise would mean a better service. We live in hope.

Hijacked computer
I have two computers. Google seems to have taken over one of them. I can't find my "normal" bt/yahoo home page.I appear to have been hijacked by google.

BT Yahoo Mail
I have been having problems accessing my mail for some time now. This is very frustrating! I hope this problm can be resolved soon,. I have been happy with service till recently.

Just this morning....
mine has 'gone down' after having no previous problems ever; and yes, I'm in the middle of a job search! It is proving very inconvenient already; I will give it 48hrs, and use hotmail, and then if it's not resolved I guess it'll consider curtains for Yahoo!

My business is suffering
I have had problems accessing my email for months now and at cost I am going to have to move to another provider. BT are aware of this but there is no sign of improvements taking place

unable to access e.mail
since last two weeks i am having problem accessing my e.mail immediately some times i have to log in several times before i can access my e,mail. can some one explain why this happens.
this morning i tried to access my e.mail for more than 10 times and no success

access suddenly ok
after 2 weeks of non- or chronically slow access, bt yahoo suddenly works !
I'ts 3 days since I changed my computer details as recommended -prefences, clearing internet files, cookies etc.
what have they done?
Can I do anything to prevent recurrence?

Not being able to receive e-mails
I have not been able to receive any e-mails for the past few days. When is this situation going to be resolved? I should be compensated.

I can not get into my email account
why is this, have tried several times, and can not get my emails.

problems with e-mail
we are a small buisness and advertise our e-mail address so that potental new students can contact us for further information when contacting bt help line i spoke to a very courtious but foriegn gentalman who i could not understand even though he tried his best and in the end put my son onto the phone to see if he could do any better but to no availe in the end he said our router was out of date and needed a new one and then tried to sell us another saying our problem could not be resolved untill we purchest another and left us felling very discrunteld i hope this problem is resolved very soon as i will be looking into changing my surver as this one is no use to my buisness as i canot read or respond to potential students there for i canot see the pont in paying for something that cannot be used

bt yahoo browser
not only am i having trouble accessing my mail, i am also having trouble using the browser at all. After i am logged in, every time i attempt to use the browser i am being asked to enter my password. After repeated attempts with the technical help people, and getting nowhere, my patience is rapidly running out and i too am shopping around for other providers

Not Receiving Emails
I am having same problem not receiving emails, my husband email address no longer exists, mine well what can I say, it worked well before all the changes, I request that we go back to how it was before. Infact I am fed up with it now and I may go elsewhere, BT is not cheap and for less you can go elsewhere.

E-Mails going missing
After waiting for replies to e-mails sent from Windows mail I have found they have gone to BTYahoo mail as spam,
Also any mail i have tried to send to BTYahoo bounces back to me.

Silver lining
Atleast it means we havnt all been hacked. just glad to know im not the only one thats having a problem. sort it out BT! People rely on being able to access e-mails! its how the world work now!

missing e-mail icons
Ihave been missing the e-mail icon from the toolbar for about two weeks and have to go the long way round to get e- mails i.e.via the google web, very fed up .
