Salesforce has launched a process management tool for its web service offerings, allowing companies to automate tasks on its Force.com and Service Cloud enterprise platforms.
The new Force.com Visual Process Manager will also let developers craft web-based applications with greater automation capabilities, the firm said.
The tool will use a visual interface to offer tutorials and guides, allowing tasks to be automated without the need for large amounts of coding.
Salesforce is targeting a variety of areas, such as sales, finance, human resources and supply chain management, and aims to expand the reach of Force.com and allow the web-based service to better compete with locally installed platforms.
"By eliminating the cost and complexity of legacy on-premise platforms like .NET, WebSphere and Lotus Notes, Force.com's multi-tenant approach helps enterprises build apps five times faster and at half the cost," said George Hu, vice president of marketing and alliances at Salesforce.
Customers will need to be subscribed to the Force.com Enterprise or Unlimited programme to access the new process manager tool, which will cost an additional £34 per month.
