A vigilante motorist deliberately caused a woman to crash her car because he thought she was using a mobile phone while driving and was thus likely to cause an accident.
David Knight, 77, told Connecticut police he was "prejudiced against people who talk on mobile phones while driving".
He thought the 19-year-old woman would cause an accident and that, in the interests of road safety, it would be better to force her off the road and onto the pavement.
Ironically, the female driver was not even using her phone at the time - she had just picked it up and put it back down. When police checked her phone account they found that no call had been made.
Knight now faces a charge of dangerous driving.
