MySpace is experiencing technical difficulties which have forced the social networking site off the internet.
The site has been offline since 2:40am on 24 July. A message posted on the site blames the outage on a power cut at its data centre.
"We are in the process of fixing it right now, so sit tight. Hopefully we'll be back online within the hour," the message says. "It's 6:40pm PST now. Wanna place a bet?" it asks.
MySpace has 95 million members and accounted for 4.5 per cent of all US
internet visits in the first week of July, according to figures from web
monitoring firm Hitwise.
The news about the site being down spread quickly among bloggers.
"It is hard to believe that a service this large could just have one data centre. Have they not heard of redundancy? I am pretty sure there is more to the story. One can only imagine how millions of MySpace users feel right now," Om Malik wrote at GigaOM.
Another user on Live Journal expressed dismay that the site was unavailable. "If Tom [Anderson, founder of MySpace] was here, I'd deck him in the face. This has turned out to be one of the worst days of my life."

It's not the end of the world guys. I love Myspace as much as the next person, but I'm not having a cry. Sure, a few technical difficulties, but if you're relying on Myspace to make or break your day, you have issues to deal with in the first place.

u can't be serious!
one reader wrote, "this is the worst day of my life" that is insane, come on now there was life before myspace, it is not supposed to be in place of your social life or your existance it is to broaden them. it is not the end of the world if myspace is down for a little while, especially when so many people in the world right now are suffering, it is time to re-evalutate your life!

an hour??
my myspace hasnt worked for the past TWO days.it says that its doing profile maintenance or something.well i dont care what you're doing to my profile,this is a popular site where people correspond with others,i cannot get new comments or read the comments i recieved before the site went down.it wouldnt have bothered me if it was even just for a day.but 2 days?? and you say it will be fixed in an hour?ha!myspace always has problems.its really become unreliable,if you are making so much money off of it,why dont you spend some making it better before everyone abandons it!

okay i am upset about myspace not working because the messages keep saying it will be back in one hour blah blah blah. && it has been waaay longer then one hour! its frustratig. & that guy who wants to sock tom in the face is kinda stupid if you ask me. it has to be hard for tom to keep up w/ every thing & if it wasnt for him we wouldnt even have a myspace. buut what ever i just want to be able to get on & check my mail :D

I love when people make RIDICULOUS statements. Example re: The Myspace Outage... "This has turned out to be one of the worst days of my life." Laughable. Ha! GO OUTSIDE. TRY YOUR PHONE. SHOP AT THE MALL. Getoveritdude! Think about the folks that had no air conditioning during the power outage. Insane.

Myspace Goes Down!!!!
I'm not sure if i belive Tom's outage story either i think to many people have just blown the site up. Tom says he can fix it fast but that could take forever. I'm a teenager myself and not all tennagers stay on all day the comment about millons of teenagers senn sunshine for first times in months isn't true.

Wow, I'm shocked that today's society is so bitter about the loss of one web site. Yes I will safely admit that I am a my space member myself, however there are so many better things worth doing then complaining about the loss of one website. I'm sure it will be up and running again soon, so in that time maybe everyone should just step Outside there houses or apartments, Into the fresh air, Breath deep. Now look a round, there?s a whole world out side one web page. Enjoy it.

little kids have NO business on myspace at all, its more of a teen thing, and an adult site..teens only who have common since should be on myspace..people are getting raped and murdered and all kind of crazy mess is happening because people are not using their head..to all those idiots: OPEN UP YOUR EYES AND YOUR BRAIN AND DON'T BE A DUMBASS. I do a ton of business from my myspace page. I am getting a deleted message today as are a large portion of fellow musicians. I hope it comes back up. I, as a recording artist will be devastated because I am working on several projects with many people. I DO NOT have all their phone numbers. Please bring us back up.
