Aruba Networks has unveiled two 802.11n access points designed to offer a low-cost way for smaller firms to use the newest Wi-Fi standard.
The AP-92 and AP-93 access points can handle network speeds up to 300Mbit/s, and have enterprise grade security build in as standard, the company said.
Mike Tennefoss, Aruba's head of strategic marketing, explained that the firm introduced the devices in order to take advantage of economies of scale and offer smaller clients the same capabilities as larger organisations.
"Aruba's market share has reached over 20 per cent, and this gives us the ability to bring in devices at a lower price than the average on the market in order to meet the growing demand from firms that require good quality Wi-Fi access," he said.
"There is now a growing shift in emerging and developed markets towards 802.11n, as it allows for better transfer of voice, data and the growing amount of video traffic on enterprise networks, irrespective of size or density."
Tennefoss claimed that the new devices offer more capabilities than products from other major players in the Wi-Fi space, including HP, Meru Networks and Cisco, while being among the lowest priced on the market.
The AP-92 and AP-93 access points cost $395 (£273) each, and have identical capabilities except that the AP-93 has internal antennas, as opposed to the AP-92's external ones, in order for it to be placed in outdoor areas more discreetly.
The devices can be used with Aruba's recently launched Spectrum Analysis Module, and come with a lifetime warranty. Both are available now.
