Adobe has issued security updates addressing eight vulnerabilities in the Reader and Acrobat 9.2 builds. The Mac, Windows and Unix versions of both applications have all been patched.
The updates include fixes for six vulnerabilities which, if exploited, could allow an attacker to remotely execute code on a targeted system. Such flaws are commonly used by malware writers to infect systems.
Adobe has classifed the update as 'critical' owing to the severity of the flaws, and recommends that users of all Acrobat and Reader versions update their systems immediately.
The update also addresses a flaw which could allow for script injection attacks, and a vulnerability which could lead to a denial-of-service attack.
Adobe's announcement comes hot on the heels of a relatively small update from Microsoft, and a major patch release from Oracle.
