Toshiba has announced new models in its mainstream Tecra range of laptops.
The machines are designed to offer secure mobile computing for business users, according to the firm.
Available immediately, the Tecra A10 and Tecra M10 are based on Centrino 2 with vPro, the latest version of Intel's mobile platform.
Both weigh less than 2.5kg and can be specified with up to 8GB of memory.
The new models feature Toshiba's EasyGuard technology, which includes fingerprint recognition, password utilities and a shock protection chassis to protect against damage to internal components.
This supplements the security features built into the Centrino 2 vPro technology, including hardware filtering of network traffic.
Both the Tecra A10 and Tecra M10 are based on dual-core processors running at 2.53GHz, 2.26GHz and 1.8GHz, and all support 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi, while Tecra M10 models support built-in 3G broadband as well.
All models ship with Windows Vista Business edition as standard.
The Tecra A10 models have a 15in wide-screen display and ship with 2GB memory at a starting price of £499, while the Tecra M10 models offer a 14in display and 3GB memory for £549.
