Gartner green lights iPhone 2.0 for the enterprise

Analyst firm Gartner has given its blessing for corporate use of the new iPhone, but warned that any firms wishing to migrate their staff to the new device should think carefully about their security and management needs.
In its new iPhone 2.0 is Ready for the Enterprise but Caveats Apply report, analyst Ken Dulaney argues that iPhone 2.0 is "acceptable for business use at the appliance level".
"However, each enterprise will view iPhone through its own lens, which will be heavily tinted by the organisation's security and management needs," he concluded.
"Enterprises should approach expanded use of the iPhone slowly and with close examination."
In particular, the report finds that the iPhone only implements four of Microsoft Exchange's security policies – there are potentially 46. Apple's reluctance to engage third-party security vendors may further damage its security rating, the report suggested.

Thank the good Lord above that Gartner has given us its permission! And there I was unable to make a judgement for myself, what with my lack of ability to read and ask relevant questions of suppliers and manufactures.
In all my years in this lunatic asylum industry I've often wondered what these clowns are for, because everything I ever see from them is a statement of the 'bleedin' obvious. Of course I.T managers need to keep an eye on security and if they are not, they should not be in the trade. To quote the great Marge Simpson " Well duh ! ".
It must be great to sit in their ivory towers churning out this drivel and probably being paid an exorbitant salary. I would like to challenge readers to point me in the direction of any genuinely useful information, that was ahead of the game and predicted correctly future trends that Gartner have produced over the last 10 years, but I think you might struggle.
