Google has released a new beta version of its Chrome browser, which the search giant claims is much faster.
"The best thing about this new beta is speed. It's 25 per cent faster on our V8 benchmark, and 35 per cent faster on the Sunspider benchmark, than the current stable channel version, and almost twice as fast when compared to our original beta version," said Google Chrome product manager Brian Rakowski in a blog post.
Other new features include auto-complete on web forms, the ability to zoom in to sections of web pages, and a new form of tabbing that allows tabbed windows to be viewed side by side.
The beta will not replace the current stable Chrome browser, but will run side by side with it, Rakowski explained.
"Getting on the beta channel means your version of Google Chrome will regularly get updated with new speed enhancements, features and bug fixes before most users see them," he said.
"We're doing our best to quickly churn out new features as they are available, rather than saving them up for occasional major releases. Riding the beta channel is a great way to let us know what's working and what's not, but don't be surprised to find some rough edges."
Google launched Chrome in September last year, but it has failed to make serious inroads into the browser market.
Do you agree?
Google gets off easy?
What? No public outcry, no bashing on google for putting out an 'unfinished product' (it must be unfinished if they're adding more to it, right)? I'm no lover of Microsoft, but it seems google and others get away with crappy products, where as Microsoft is held to this much higher level and beaned with hate comments when it's discovered their product isn't perfect. Show me a software program that is. Google has made plenty of lame products that are not completely user friendly and I still can't get Chrome to correctly show several of my commonly used pages that are just fine in IE and Firefox.

Muh?
I don't get it, why would anyone bash Google for making a fledgling product, barely out of beta in the 1st place better in a new version? I don't know what issues you've had with Chrome and these pages you visit but I use it everyday and never see pages that 'don't display correctly'. Seeing as Google have only just ventured into a browser market flooded with veterans i'd say they're doing a pretty good job personally, both IE and Firefox have been around a long time and still have their fair share of issues. This is an interesting read tho http://www.legitreviews.com/article/929/1/
Although it's only a benchmark Chrome already looks pretty quick there, now it's getting faster? Yikes
