Microsoft has launched a Bluetooth wireless desktop package for PCs.
The Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth kit hooks up a keyboard and mouse without the need for cables, and connects to other compatible devices, such as Bluetooth-equipped mobile phones and printers, over a range of 30ft.
"Bluetooth is poised to be the cable replacement technology of choice," said Michael Foley, chairman of the Bluetooth special interest group at Microsoft.
The company said in a press release that the kit will launch in the UK next month at a recommended retail price of £149.99.
A Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer and transceiver option will cost an extra £79.99.
