NetBenefit claimed this week to be the first service provider to offer a dedicated hosting platform for Microsoft's Silverlight platform.
Silverlight is a cross-browser, server-independent plug-in for delivering rich media content and interactive applications for developers.
NetBenefit has worked closely with Microsoft to design a hosting platform specifically for websites or online applications designed using Silverlight.
Silverlight offers a programming model that supports Ajax, VB, C#, IronPython and IronRuby, and integrates with existing web applications to provide "richer experiences" at reduced media delivery costs.
Microsoft claims that Silverlight is truly cross-platform in that it is compatible with Windows, Mac OS and, in due course, Windows Mobile.
Jonathan Robinson, chief operating officer at NetBenefit, said: "NetBenefit works with a wide range of award-winning new media agencies and is currently working on a number of products for this space.
"Whether you are using Silverlight for a client project or your own internal use, our experienced team of professionals can create a tailored hosting platform specifically with your business requirements in mind."
