The hotly anticipated 1.1 release of the Mozilla Firefox browser will be delayed, the project's lead engineer Ben Goodger has revealed.
According to Goodger, Firefox's original scheduled shipment date of March 2005 has slipped. The developer posted a revised schedule for the browser, which anticipates delivery of the "feature-rich" 1.1 version beta code in April, after the "non-feature complete preview" due for release in March.
Goodger denied that the delay was in any way connected to his recent high-profile move to Google.
Goodger stated on his blog: "The slippage from March is not due to my move to Google, it is due to us needing to ensure the 1.1 release is of identical quality and scope as the 1.0 release.
"That means a period of testing, the localisation system needs to be brought back online, etc. These things are done by more people than just myself, so quit with the wacky speculation."
