Networking giant Cisco has reached a definitive agreement to acquire privately-held appliance vendor Reactivity.
California-based Reactivity is an XML gateway provider targeting the enterprise space.
The company develops software architectures designed to help enterprises change from a client-server framework to a service-oriented architecture. It also targets clients deploying Web 2.0 capabilities.
The acquisition follows Cisco's focus on Application Networking Services' Advanced Technology segment, part of Cisco's Service-Oriented Network Architecture strategy.
Jayshree Ullal, senior vice president, Datacenter Switching and Security Technology Group at Cisco, said: "Reactivity together with our Application Control Engine provides a highly capable solution for customers' application delivery needs in the data centre."
Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay approximately $135m in cash and assumed options of Reactivity.
