Opera has set 1 September as the official release date for the Opera 10 web browser. The company unveiled a new release candidate on Monday, and said that it will publish the final build in exactly one week.
"The release candidate pushes us closer to the final launch of Opera 10," said Jan Standal, vice president of desktop products at Opera.
"We paid special attention to the mail client, which is one of our most enduring and popular features. Now we are very close to releasing the best browser in Opera's long history."
The latest version will sport a number of new features, including a connection-enhancement system known as Turbo Boost which is designed to speed up the performance of slower internet connections.
Other new features include a 'thumbnail' browser tabbing system, and a shortcut system known as 'speed dial'.
The latest update for Opera comes during a heightened period of competition in the web browser market. In addition to the latest versions from old foes Firefox and Internet Explorer, Opera has had to contend with competition from the Apple Safari and Google Chrome browsers.
Do you agree?
Speed Dial is not a new feature.
Speed dial was featured on 9.6 and possibly even before that, I can't remember.
