Wide area network (WAN) optimisation specialist Riverbed Technology has released a new version of its RiOS operating system.
RiOS functions as the software platform for all of the company's WAN optimisation appliances, and allows customers to manage WANs and optimise bandwidth use.
Joe Ghory, senior product marketing manager at Riverbed, told V3.co.uk that the new version will function up to twice as fast as the previous one.
Integration and improvement with private cloud applications has been a top priority for the new RiOS build, the firm said.
Ghory said that the operating system is designed to optimise enterprise communication and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft's SharePoint and Exchange platforms and IBM's Lotus software.
Riverbed is also aiming to optimise performance for network appliances, such as EMC's storage platforms and Cisco's MDS gateway systems.
"What we are doing is giving organisations the opportunity to overcome the hurdles and challenges they face in their own datacentres as well as those they face in these other spaces," said Ghory.
"They can make decisions based on what makes the most sense strategically, and not have concerns about performance."
