Kaspersky has launched its Internet Security 2010 suite onto the US market, claiming that an important element of the new software is its attempt to engage the user in a polite way.
The new software contains many technical advances, but one of the key features is that Kaspersky has made the software more user friendly by automating key functions and making them easier to understand.
"We are paying a lot of attention to politeness, which is something you don't often hear," said Peter Beardmore, senior product marketing manager at Kaspersky, in a video interview with V3.co.uk.
"Software should not be harassing users or asking them to make decisions that they don't know how to make."
For example, the new software has a Safe Run function which allows any application or web page to be run in a 'sandbox' to protect the PC. Such applications run on the screen with a green outline to show that they are safe.
The software is also the first to run Kaspersky's Urgent Detection System, which uses feedback from customers around the world to cut the warning time to discover new threats. Beardmore claimed that this would cut reaction times to dealing with some malware to just 40 seconds.
The software also uses white listing to identify safe sites and applications, and cuts the amount of processor power needed to function.
Do you agree?
antiviruses and politeness
of course it's imperious that the av solution you install should be "polite" with users.. for this fact.. bitdefender's 2010 products come with a 3 type interface: from the novice user.. to the advanced one.. plain and simple.. and i really like this :)
good luck and stay protected!
