A service offering real-time information about train delays and cancellations to Wap-enabled mobile phones has been launched this week.
Connex, which operates rail services in the south east of England, has developed the service with mobile information company Kizoom and transport information specialist Nexus Alpha.
The service is launched as rail services across the country face disruption after speed restrictions were imposed on many lines in the wake of the Hatfield rail accident last week.
By midday Monday, the service was listing several cancellations of Connex services on the London to Brighton line, one of the country's busiest commuter lines.
Connex said the Wap service would help it keep customers better informed and reduce the amount time they spend waiting on platforms.
