Enterprise search company Exalead has launched a line of products based on a re-architected platform designed to improve usability, performance and scalability and search across a wider range of documents.
The CloudView range features an OEM Edition, a Search Edition and a 360 Edition built on an open service oriented architecture platform.
The new line features a streamlined user interface, improved relevancy and the ability to extend business intelligence applications to textual search, according to Exalead UK managing director Raymond Bentinck.
"Business intelligence applications are good at telling businesses what is happening, but not why," he said.
"We are doing what organisations do with extract, transform, load and business intelligence tools over structured information, but we're doing it over all information, structured and unstructured."
However, Ovum analyst Mike Davis believes that, while Exalead's is a solid enterprise engine, the firm still lacks differentiation.
"Enterprise search is almost totally commoditised," he said. "The only real differentiators are when organisations can focus on specific verticals."
CloudView will be available by the fourth quarter of 2008.
