Server management software maker Opsware plans to add audit and compliance management capability to the upcoming version of its Server Automation System.
The software is designed to allow systems administrators to change, patch and manage servers.
The latest version, codenamed Darwin, is in accordance with new legal and industry specific regulations, and will generate specific reports for each set of regulations.
Darwin will create an audit trail to track changes made to a system. The application enables granular auditing of servers and applications to enforce corporate and regulatory rules, and promises to flag violations.
Administrators can set policies across groups of servers based on profile and group criteria, instead of having to enter them manually on a per-server basis.
The application also includes a new feature dubbed ExpressAutomation that promises faster deployment of new servers in a network.
