Dell has signed a deal to bundle Skype's VoIP software on its new XPS laptop systems, providing free internet voice and video calls to other Skype users.
Users can choose to have Skype preloaded on the Dell XPS M2010 notebook, which features an integrated webcam for video calls. Dell will also offer a package that includes noise isolating earphones.
"Teaming with Skype will provide our customers with the very best experience when reaching out and staying in touch with friends and family around the world, " said Brett Faulk, worldwide marketing director for consumer notebooks at Dell.
Skype users can talk to other subscribers for free worldwide and call fixed line phones from 1.2p per minute.
Skype claimed that the agreement would introduce a lot of potential customers to its VoIP service.
"Dell represents a new distribution channel for Skype," said Don Albert, director of business development for Skype North America.
"New products from Dell will complement the breadth of hardware designed for the convenience of Skype callers."
