For tourists and businesses needing to visit their India-based outsourcing providers, Google has made travelling around the country a lot easier. The firm has launched its India edition of Google Map Maker.
“In countries like India, great maps and comprehensive local data are hard to come by,” noted Lalitesh Katragadda, software engineer and the creator of Google Map Maker.
The application allows users to create maps with the latest local data. People can mark particular spots in cities and neighbourhoods, such as roads, parks and businesses. Google has already deployed it to 57 other countries, the majority of which lack adequate mapping information.
“Traditional mapping approaches are stretched to the limit in such environments, where infrastructure and local businesses are evolving at a furious pace,” Katragadda added.
