Skype clicks with Kodak for picture sharing

Kodak and Skype have launched Kodak Photo Voice, a service that combines live voice and online photo sharing.

The download allows users to create a slideshow that can be shared during a Skype phone call. 

"Today's families and social networks are scattered around the globe. Staying connected through photo sharing remains an important element in maintaining closer personal relationships," said Sandra Morris, general manager of consumer imaging services at Kodak.

Using the launchpad of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Skype also announced a new standalone handset to enable users to make free Skype calls over the internet without a PC connection.

The company also unveiled a phone adapter developed with D-Link, called the DPH-50U, that allows the Skype service to be used with a traditional phone.

Panasonic has developed a cordless phone that works with Skype, and Ipevo has developed a cordless handset and speaker phone which can be used with the service.

Skype is expected to make another announcement in conjunction with home networking equipment maker Netgear later today.
