Yahoo's board-level turmoil continues
Yahoo board member Maggie Wilderotter has decided to step down from the company effective from 31 December, according to a Form 8-K filing (PDF) with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company said that Wilderotter's decision to leave Yahoo was not related to any problems within the company or board of directors, but rather her desire to "focus more on other responsibilities".
Wilderotter joined Yahoo's board in 2007, and also serves as chief executive at telecoms firm Frontier Communications.
Her departure marks the latest in an ongoing series of moves at Yahoo's highest levels. Set in motion by the return of Jerry Yang and brought to a head by the highly-public acquisition talks with Microsoft, Yahoo has seen several executives and directors come and go in the past two years.
The biggest shakeup came early in 2009 when Yang officially stepped down from the chief executive role and handed the title to Carol Bartz.
Among other moves were the addition of new board members led by investor Carl Icahn, and the departure of company president Sue Decker.
