Google has announced an agreement to acquire the Picnik online photo editing service, which allows users to upload and edit photos and share them on photo-hosting and social networking sites.
The search firm made no announcement about its plans for Picnik, and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We are very impressed with the Picnik team and the product they have created, and are excited to welcome them to Google," wrote Google product management director Brian Axe in a blog post.
"We are looking forward to collaborating closely to improve the online photo-editing experience on the web."
The move is the latest in a busy buying season for Google. The company recently announced the purchases of On2 Technologies, Aardvark and reMail.
