Meru Networks today launched a new assurance programme designed to help meet the demands of large-scale enterprises moving to wireless systems.
Wireless Service Assure (WSA) has been especially set up to help provide businesses with a 99.99 per cent connectivity guarantee that any wireless devices will remain connected to the network.
The service is primarily intended for large organisations based on campuses of 100,000 square feet or more, according to Ram Appalaraju, vice president of marketing at Meru.
The WSA programme promises to host voice calls over the network with the same quality as fixed-line phones, and Meru said that it can install the system with 30 per cent fewer access points than existing solutions.
Appalaraju explained that, as more enterprises look at the use of wireless technologies to support critical applications, it is becoming increasingly important to demonstrate that networks can maintain connectivity at all times.
"The launch of WSA will help underline the quality of wireless network coverage we now offer, and prove to those in mission-critical environments that we will be able to meet their needs," he said.
Appalaraju added that he expects wireless networks to become increasingly popular among enterprises, especially as more devices become wireless-enabled due to the low cost for manufacturers of adding the capability into their products.
WSA will be available to qualified customers worldwide from February.
