HP has extended its Integrity NonStop server family with the entry-level NS2000 aimed at small and mid-sized firms in emerging markets, healthcare, financial services and telecoms.
The NS2000 offers high-quality server features and capabilities, but at a much lower cost, according to HP.
"Customers with limited IT resources are looking for cost-effective solutions that quickly and easily deliver the fault-tolerant capabilities they need to minimise risk of downtime," said Winston Prather, general manager of NonStop at HP.
"The NS2000 Integrity family delivers the performance and reliability our customers need, right out of the box and at a very competitive price point."
The new server is built on Intel's Itanium multi-core processors, and offers twice the performance of previous NonStop entry-level units, 24/7 data availability, and the ability to run the same applications as other higher cost units, according to HP.
The NS2000 is designed to be easy to use and manage, and comes in a variety of configurations depending on requirements. Customers can choose between four- and eight-core hardware base bundles, and 8GB or 16GB memory per processor options.
Pricing depends on geography. HP said that customers should speak to their local representative.
