A US man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of receiving child pornography via the internet.
US District Judge Catherine Blake also ordered the defendant to serve a life sentence of supervised release.
Scott Carpenter, 44, of Maryland, originally pleaded guilty on 15 April.
The charges were brought after an FBI investigation into individuals using file-sharing or peer-to-peer applications to trade child sexual abuse images and video files.
According to Carpenter's guilty plea, an undercover FBI agent signed on to LimeWire in 2006 and entered a search term known to be associated with images of child pornography.
Among the responses was one from an IP address later identified as belonging to Carpenter, from which the agent downloaded 14 images of child pornography.
A federal search warrant was later executed at Carpenter's home, and the FBI recovered a computer which contained more than 100 images and videos of children engaged in sexual acts.

Truth
How many people lose their virginity at 16 and younger in America? Compare that to how many states qualify a person under 18 as a minor (child). Before you make harsh judging remarks about things you read online, (to judge is a sin btw) perhaps you could get all of the facts... just saying... these could have been 15 year old kids who thought they were old enough to act like adults. Or it might have originally been from a country like Spain where the legal age of consent is 13. Maybe you should do your research...

I'll come out and say it I am from the uk and I have had to pleade guilty of downloading child porn because my defence was not strong enough now I spend my time trying to find the real person that did this as I have lived in several places including a pub I have allways rented rooms never had a house to my Salf I and the reason why I pleaded guilty was due to the fact that a 5 year prison term would mess my head up my hole case went on for over two years I do agree that anyone that has really done this should be shot but I have allways fort about that untill it happend to me so far it's really affected my mental health and I keep drawing blanks to most people that used my computer I know I will clear my name I am not afraid of that most of my friends have stud by me as thay know I am not that sort of person and people that are Into child pornography will allways be in to it no matter what a court do so those that are guilty truly should get shot but I will say to people we all know this is one of the worst sickening offence ever but just be aware of the facts before juging as the press will only print what's good for them and try and make it look worse thay do not print the whole court hearing if anyone has any advice please post
