Google has launched a new search engine specifically for UK mobile phone users.
Google Mobile seeks out pages written in extensible HTML (XHTML) which are optimised for mobile internet users with pages designed to be viewed on a phone screen.
The service is accessed via the Google homepage using a standard web browser. Users then type in their search query and select 'Mobile Web (Beta)' as the search option.
Google Mobile automatically translates regular web pages into pages that a phone understands. But, since these formats support different content, the service will vary between phones.
Google web search and image search is available with XHTML and iMode, but users can only conduct a Google web search with wireless mark-up language.
Google Mobile was introduced in the US and Canada earlier this year.
Do you agree?
Modible phone marketing and car finance?
Well...its a great idea, but I feel only some will benefit. I work with car loans and car finance, and am currently debating building a movile site especially for people on the go.....likely to be prime customers which is good, but really, who will look for car finance on the go? and do we really want to shoulder building two websites, which involves more staff just to get mobile attention? I think the answer is simple to submit our details but not bother taking it any further. What does anyone else think?
