AMD has unveiled three new additions to its Opteron processor family.
Model 250, for dual-processor workstations and servers, is available immediately worldwide, and AMD claimed that high-performance workstations and servers from "leading system builders" are expected to be available at the chip's launch.
The Model 150, for single-processor workstations and entry-level servers, is scheduled to be available in 30 days, as is the Model 850 for enterprise-class servers.
AMD said the Model 250 is priced at $851 per unit in 1,000-unit quantities, while the Model 850 will be priced at $1,514 per unit in 1,000-unit quantities and the Model 150 $637 per unit in 1,000-unit quantities.
Marty Seyer, vice president and general manager of AMD's microprocessor business unit, said these latest models feature Direct Connect Architecture.
"Our product line will be further enhanced by our rapid transition to 90-nanometer manufacturing, which will provide us a greater flexibility to boost processor performance, lower power or both," he said in a statement.
