Samung adds trio of N series netbooks

The Samsung N510 weighs 1.41kg

Korean electronics giant Samsung has announced three new models in its N series of netbooks.

The N130, N140 and N510 are designed with style, computing and economy in mind, according to the firm. The N130 weighs 1.26kg, while the N140 and N510 are slightly heavier at 1.27kg and 1.41kg respectively.

All three use Intel's Atom processor, and come with Windows XP Home Edition, three USB ports, a three-in-one memory card reader, and a six-cell battery that promises up to 11 hours between charges.

The devices include netbook staples such as Bluetooth and wireless LAN, and the N130 comes in a range of colours including black, white, sea blue and peach pink. The new models are expected sometime this month.

"Following on from the success of the current N-series, we see these stylish and lightweight models as a continuation of our growth in this category," said Phil Brown, general manager of Samsung UK's notebook division.

Samsung also revealed details of a trio of laptops in the pipeline - the X520, X420 and X120 - which range in weight from 1.36kg to 2.09kg.

"Samsung X-series notebooks all boast an ultra-sleek slimline design that is virtually the same width as a £1 coin," said the firm. "And since the X-series is so light you probably won't even notice you're carrying them, which means you can go the extra mile and squeeze even more into your day."

Samsung's latest notebooks offer HDMI outputs for watching content on a television, the Intel Core2 Duo mobile processor and Vista Home Premium edition.

The Samsung X120 will be available in September and the X520 and X420 will follow in October.
