Lexar Media ramps up Crucial SSD range

The Crucial SSDs offer read speeds of up to 250MB/s

Lexar Media, owner of the Crucial range of memory products, has ramped up its range of solid state drives (SSDs) to include 64GB, 128GB and 256GB versions.

The new SATA 2.0 drives boast read speeds of up to 250MB/s and maximum write speeds of 200MB/s.

"By upgrading to an SSD, mobile computer users will enjoy a faster, more rugged system with storage built for mobility. The fact that SSDs don't have any moving parts makes Crucial SSDs quieter, cooler and more durable than traditional hard drives," said Robert Wheadon, Lexar Media's senior worldwide product marketing manager.

The multi level cell Flash-based drives are housed in a standard 2.5in chassis allowing them to replace existing notebook and netbook hard drives.

Crucial also sells a separate external drive storage kit which includes a 2.5in USB 2.0 external enclosure, a 3.5in SATA hot-swappable drive bay and a 5.25in drive bay bracket allowing the drive to be connected to just about any PC.

All three drives come with a five-year warranty and sell for £104.99, £201.99 and £367.99 respectively.
