US navy and military websites have been scrambling to remove links to a recruitment site after it was hijacked by porn merchants.
The NavyDallas.com recruitment website was scuppered by porn pirates after website administrators forgot to pay the re-registration fee, a mistake that has left many other big name sites out at sea in the past.
Instead of pointing to a recruitment site for potential sailors in the Dallas district, the site now offers a link to www.how-to-find-porn.com, a graphic hardcore site hosted in Berlin.
The US Navy has been in talks with domain registrar Network Solutions to find a way to get the name back, because over 4,000 armed services recruitment sites still link to it.
The Navy may have a chance of getting the name released as the new owner has not provided the necessary contact details, but it's by no means definite.
Under Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers legislation the name will be released to the general pool and will not automatically go straight back to its old owner.
But for viewers who still come across NavyDallas.com, there's plenty of pictures of seamen.
