Corsair taps Intel for XMP

Memory manufacturer Corsair is to use Intel's Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) specification for its latest DDR3 modules.

XMP is part of a complete eco-system designed for the enthusiast PC user through a partnership between system manufacturers, motherboard suppliers and memory manufacturers.

The specification allows novice and advanced users to configure Intel P35, X38 and future systems for over-clocking performance.

XMP includes built-in SPD optimised profiles as well as the ability to manually adjust timing parameters so that systems can be fine-tuned for intense gaming or for everyday home computing applications.

"Corsair and Intel have worked closely to evolve and develop next-generation DDR3 SPD memory specifications," said Jack Peterson, vice president of marketing at Corsair.

"The Intel XMP will open the door to a broader adoption of the DDR3 platform technology."
