Mozilla has announced that the Beta 1 release of its Firefox 2.0 web browser is now available for download.
The new browser includes phishing protection to prevent users being fooled by fake websites, the ability to re-open tabs that have been closed by accident and better support for RSS feeds.
Bookmarks will now feature micro-summaries to provide a quick précis of frequently changing web pages enabling users to quickly see which pages have been updated.
The software is still in development and is only recommended for use by developers and testers. The Firefox 2.0 beta can be downloaded from the Mozilla Developer Centre.
Firefox 2.0 is codenamed 'Bon Echo'. The Beta 1 release was originally scheduled for release last month, and the final product is due to arrive in August.
