BT announced today that it has extended its Ethernet network services in key European cities into the wide area network (Wan).
The extended offering sees the launch of local and storage area network (Lan/San) extension services for business customers to provide seamless Ethernet connectivity between Lans and Wans across Europe.
The Ethernet-based national and international services are available in selected cities in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Ireland and the Nordics, and can also be delivered on an international basis to and from the UK.
In addition, BT has extended its long-haul Ethernet capabilities into New York.
Martin Maters, general manager of bandwidth and Ethernet services at BT Global Services, said: "As the digital networked economy takes hold, businesses need greater resilience, capacity and flexibility from their networks. Ethernet delivers fast connections with low latency, which is key for vital business transactions."
The Lan/San extension services are designed to provide point-to-point and point-to-multi-point Ethernet connectivity.
BT offers standard Ethernet (10Mbps), Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) and Gigabit Ethernet (1,000Mbps) data throughput rates.
