Three top executives from social networking stalwart MySpace have announced their intention to leave the company.
Leading the exodus is chief operating officer Amit Kapur, who joined MySpace in 2005. Kapur is credited with helping to develop and oversee the MySpace Music and MySpace Mobile services. The company has yet to officially name a replacement.
Also leaving are Jim Benedetto, a MySpace senior vice president of technology credited as one of the original architects for the social networking site, and Steve Pearman, a senior vice president of technology.
All three are said to be going in the next few weeks to work on a startup project. The name or nature of the new entity is not known.
News of the departure comes just weeks after MySpace parent company News Corp saw its own chief operating officer step down. Peter Chernin said that he intends to leave the company by the end of June.
