Google has given Gmail users the ability to recall messages they send via email. A new Undo Send button will hold messages for five seconds after the user clicks Send.
This is intended to give users a chance to retrieve messages in cases where they have addressed the email to the wrong person, sent the wrong subject heading or made an error in the email content.
"This feature can't pull back an email that's already gone; it just holds your message for five seconds so you have the chance to hit the panic button," said Michael Leggett, Gmail user experience designer, in the Gmail blog.
"And don't worry: if you close Gmail or your browser crashes in those few seconds, we'll still send your message."
To add the feature, users need to turn on the Undo Send option in Gmail under Settings. They will then see a new 'undo' link on every sent mail confirmation.
Do you agree?
5 seconds for Undo Send mail is insufficient
You have to give at least 30 seconds instead of 5 seconds to hit the Undo Send button, since people, in practice requires so much time to rethink before accepting in their minds whether the mail is ok in all respects or whether it requires editing, after the Send button is clicked. please consider this.

useless feature
This is just one feature which really does not add much value to gmail. 995 of the time people will take more than 5 seconds to rethink their decision to send an email. Then it will take more time to figure ot that they have this option to take the email back.

BUMP HOLD TIME! THANKS FOR GREAT FEATURE!
I agree that the hold time needs to be extended as much as possible. The previous commented suggested 30 seconds and that would be great if traffic can still flow fine with this hold time turned on. MAYBE SOMEONE COULD AT LEAST ADDRESS THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS TO THE PUBLIC. Thanks again for a great feature implement!
