Search and information risk management vendor Recommind has launched a version of its enterprise search product designed to boost the relevancy of searches and find internal and external documents with a single query.
MindServer Search 6.0 could help improve relevancy by offering the ability to screen results by history, author, length, or other specific factors found in the metadata.
The new version also lets users prioritise 'Best Bets', or preselected files linked to particular queries, as well as files created by the user or those close to that user, so that these documents appear higher in the results list.
MindServer Search 6.0 returns results from internal and external sources, highlighting the latter, and makes it easy to add new sources where necessary, the firm said.
"The system has always been very relevant, but users have more complex requirements now so it is getting harder to achieve this," said Recommind UK sales director Simon Price.
"At the same time we are trying to make it easier to do. It is frustrating if every time you want to change things you need to ask IT, so we making the key features available to the key knowledge managers and gatekeepers in an organisation."
