Symantec has released updates for its Workflow automation system and ServiceDesk IT management tool.
The new Workflow 7.0 release sports a simplified workflow designer, and improved analysis and reporting features. The update is designed to allow administrators to design better workflows, and implement IT service processes such as user permissions, new hardware requests and password resets.
The ServiceDesk 7.0 update, meanwhile, aims to simplify IT management. The new version includes a number of pre-set best practice systems to automate tasks such as installing updates and managing errors.
Both tools are being pitched by Symantec as part of the larger Management Platform enterprise software campaign. The company is targeting the new applications at firms looking to increase efficiency and better streamline IT operations.
"Organisations today are looking for ways to improve efficiencies, increase compliance and reduce costs while leveraging existing systems and resources and building out their IT organisation as needed," said Francis deSouza, senior vice president of Symantec's enterprise security group.
"Both Workflow 7.0 and ServiceDesk 7.0 provide immediate customer benefits through process automation to shorten timelines and manoeuvre through organisational structure while maintaining accountability and ensuring compliance."
