Playstation PC emulation software ships today

Today is 'D' day for the gamers who have been waiting for Bleem's Playstation emulator for Pentium Pcs.

Bleem, which has been in legal wrangles with Sony about the Playstation emulator, began shipping CDs to customers who had pre-ordered the emulation software on its website. The CD is a key to download the software and will be live from today.

"The final release will be available on the site just in time for Margaritas, cervezas, and all that Cinco de Mayo revelry at precisely: 5:55pm, 5/5/99," said David Herpolsheimer, Bleem's president.

Sony has tried twice to file temporary restraining orders in a bid to stop the shipment of the Bleem emulator. These orders were overturned in a US court, but they have meant that Bleem has been way behind on its shipping date. It has also cost the California start up many thousands of dollars in legal fees.

"It's been tough. The time burden, cost and pure scariness of a lawsuit this huge have taken their toll, but we've survived everything Sony has thrown at us," said Herpolsheimer.

Late last month Sony Computer Entertainment won a court order in San Francisco to stop Connectix from selling its Virtual Game Station emulator, which enables consumers to play Playstation games on an Apple Mac.
