Memory maker PNY has entered the solid state drive (SSD) market with two new models offering capacities of 128GB and 256GB.
SSDs are rapidly gaining acceptance as speed and reliability increases, and the capacities reach usable levels.
PNY's 2.5in High Speed Optima Sata II-based drives use Multi Layer Cell technology, and are faster and more reliable than the majority of other drives on the market, according to the firm. The drives boast write speeds of 200Mbit/s and read speeds of 220Mbit/s.
"With the PNY High Speed Optima SSDs, every laptop or desktop computer user will be able to considerably accelerate their operating system start-up and software programme execution," said Jonathan Filleau, components category manager at PNY.
The High Speed Optima SSDs will be available from late June in 128GB and 256GB versions selling for £309.99 and £599.99 respectively.
