Microsoft has agreed to acquire communications software maker Parlano for an undisclosed sum.
Parlano develops chat software for enterprises with multiple offices and remote employees.
The company's MindAlign suite allows for users in multiple locations to set up chat sessions in a secure, encrypted environment.
Once the deal becomes official, Microsoft will integrate Parlano's technology into its Office Communications and Office Communications Server offerings.
Unlike its recent acquisitions of AdECN and aQuantive, Microsoft plans to fully assimilate its latest purchase.
Parlano will move from its headquarters in Chicago to Microsoft's Redmond campus and dissolve into the unified communications group.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
