Easynet Connect unveils fixed-price fibre for small firms

Easynet Connect has launched a fixed-priced fibre connection aimed at small to medium sized enterprises.

The internet service provider is undertaking a major local-loop unbundling project at around 1,200 of its exchanges in order to offer the service to more than 70 per cent of UK businesses.

The first phase of the Local Access Leased Line rollout will see up to 50 exchanges completed by the end of the year, and Easynet claims that the new service will cost up to half the price of other fibre Ethernet products on the market.

"Local Access Leased Line will definitely help bring next-generation broadband to more small businesses without breaking the bank," said Chris Stening, managing director of Easynet Connect.

"The increased bandwidth can open up new opportunities to thousands of businesses, especially many who could not previously access high-speed internet. "

Easynet Connect is part of the BSkyB group, and has the second largest network in the UK with 6,030km of fibre.

"According to our latest research, one in five small businesses see the internet as the most important tool to help them survive the recession, and around half of companies are looking to launch new products and services over the web," added Stening.

"Similarly, the increase in remote working, the use of cloud computing and video conferencing are putting greater demands on small businesses' web connections, so it is important that small businesses, wherever they are based, can get access to the best value and quality connections."
