.
Electronic Arts has released the first official details of the next version of The Sims, one of the world's best selling computer games, which will launch in 2009.
Nearly three years in the making, The Sims 3 will feature a new games engine that promises greater immersion and "unlimited customisation".
With 98 million games sold around the world in 22 languages, the transgender appeal of the franchise has made The Sims the third best selling game in history, behind Mario and Pokemon.
"In The Sims 3, Sims can go beyond the boundaries of their home lot, and immerse themselves in an open, living neighbourhood, interacting with other Sims using our new deeper personality system," said Rod Humble, head of The Sims Studio.
"It is this type of open-ended gameplay that inspires endless creative possibilities. In addition the new goals and rewards systems will give players of all kinds from core gamers to storytellers the ability to enjoy long-term gameplay."
Ben Bell, executive producer on The Sims 3, added: "The new engine and technologies are designed to unleash the player's imagination with realistic looking Sims who have distinct personalities and a seamless neighbourhood to discover."
Do you agree?
the sims 3!!!
I think that there should be fun sports like Gymnastics & Trampolining & stuff! It could be on an expansion pack & be like an olympic pack were they get to compeet. They could go to special training clubs however often a week were they are trained by very tuff coaches!
Its not just 1 personwho thought of this idea! We counted up and 56/60 people said it was a good idea (thats just on 1 street!)
Also it dosent just have to be gymnastics & trampolining! It could be tennis, badmington, short/long distance running...!
all 56 of us hope that you take this into consideration & we cant wait untill the sims 3 comes out!
We all know that there is a 99.9% chance of our idea not being made but it is just an idea and we know that there is little hope but we are thankful to have our say!
We had one more idea. We think that there should be hospitals for people to go to!

"The Sims" brought the phanominom, with "The Sims 2" came the obsession, and now "The Sims 3" -- well, who knows what's next =D

My opinion =)
To be frank, being an owner of all Sims 1 and Sims 2 expansions and stuff packs, I think Sims 3 will be going slightly too far. Sure it sounds absolute immense, but will people like myself be twisted into buying every expansion as they are released every 6 months? Well it all depends if it will be released on PC or next-gen consoles. Could someone tell me? Simple question and I'm sure it's somewhere on the internet but I'm off to play Sims 2 so any information would be much appreciated =D
