Business service management vendor BMC Software has launched a new product which it claims can speedily resolve problems with batch processes before they get out of control, enabling the continuing smooth running of the business.
Batch Impact Manager is a batch processing tool which is able to predict when delays may occur, according to BMC, and alert staff to failures in critical processes.
The tool will also inform staff of the impact of not fixing such failures, and suggest how to resolve the issues, said the firm.
BMC senior product manager Saar Schwartz claimed that around 70 per cent of organisations' processes now run in batch, making them critical in delivering core business services. But he argued that it has become difficult for IT teams to spot and resolve problems.
"Batch Impact Manager helps them prioritise what matters. If you have 10,000 batch transactions running daily, only a handful can be mapped to business functions and end user-type service agreements," he explained.
"Our customers often get calls from their managers when something is broken or late. They don't want to hear those calls; they want to know ahead of time and to fix the problem."
BMC also released new updates to its Control-M software which allows for the automation of database processes, another critical element for delivering reliable business services, according to the firm.
