IBM is making it easier for IT departments to develop and deliver new software and services to the rest of the enterprise with a new offering called IBM Integrated Service Management.
The product combines Rational and Tivoli software, and should make it easier for organisations to build and deliver new software, IBM said.
The Rational software automates the build cycle during the development phase, at which point Tivoli automatically deploys it onto servers and manages quality and performance. The combination offers an overview of software delivery that is both auditable and traceable, according to IBM.
"Widespread use of the internet and easy access to high computing power is making it possible for companies of all sizes to develop and deliver innovative new products and services," said Al Zollar, general manager of IBM Tivoli software.
"IBM's new service management software allows businesses to automate what was previously a labour-intensive process, with the peace of mind that the new service is developed and delivered quickly and accurately."
The package includes a testing tool designed to speed up the discovery of errors, a real-world replication tool that can simulate the actual use of software, and a change management and configuration database.
IBM's IT Management Consulting Services will also help clients build up an IT service strategy, the firm said.
