IBM workers in the US who have recently been made redundant are to be offered jobs in locations like India, according to reports.
The company announced the loss of thousands of jobs last week, and those affected will be offered a place in IBM's new Project Match programme that helps ex-employees to relocate to IBM's low-cost operation countries, such as India, China and Brazil.
IBM said that it is constantly rebalancing its workforce on a global basis to meet evolving client needs, but could not provide any more information on Project Match, which reports said was outlined to employees in an internal notice.
"The potential for developing career and new business skills by living and working abroad has been communicated to employees," the notice said.
