Sony has confirmed that it has found a second glitch in its Playstation 2 games console.
Some Playstation 2 users can avoid copyright protection on the console's DVD player if they press a set of buttons when turning on the device. This means they can watch DVD movies sold outside the Japanese classification region.
The games console is currently only available in Japan and will not be released in Europe until autumn.
Sony said it is working with DVD makers to find out why some Playstation 2 consoles do not read copyright protection code written into DVD disks. The consumer electronics giant hopes to have the problem resolved by next week.
It is still unclear whether Sony will have to recall some of the consoles it has already shipped.
Some Playstation 2 users have also had trouble playing DVDs after using memory cards in their consoles. Sony is still investigating this problem.
