Google has made another update to its labelling feature in Gmail in an attempt to make it easier for users to organise their inbox.
The search firm added buttons and menus to the top of the Gmail inbox in February so that users could label and archive emails in a single step.
Google has now moved the labels to the left of the inbox so that they appear right above the Gmail chat list, together with Inbox, Drafts and other system labels.
Users can drag messages into labels, just like they can with folders. Labels can also be dragged onto messages, allowing users to quickly prioritise their inbox.
Clicking the down arrow to the left of the label controls which labels are on show and which are hidden.
