AMD today unveiled its fastest ever 64-bit notebook processor, the Mobile Athlon 64 processor 4000+.
Designed for incorporation into high-performance, full sized notebook computers, the CPU was designed using the chip firm's AMD64 hybrid 32-bit and 64-bit technology. It also features Enhanced Virus Protection (EVP), AMD's security feature which is designed to prevent the spread of certain malicious viruses.
The 4000+ processor also supports AMD's PowerNow! dynamic power management technology to extend system battery life.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers announced plans to incorporate the Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ into a new AMILO A1667G notebook, which is expected to be available next month throughout Europe.
Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processors are now available in models 4000+, 3700+, 3400+, 3200+, 3000+ and 2800+.
The Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ is available immediately worldwide and is priced at $382 in 1,000-unit trade quantities.
